Living in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada’s is a challenge to a good gardener, of which I am not. I do my very best, and you’d never know you were in Nevada standing in my yard in the summer. We just don’t get that much sun, but have water rights, which, in the desert, is like gold. The seasons are well defined, though there are always surprises. Because winter can seem long, we tend to decorate around the property with permanent things. I took some pictures just a few days ago of some of my favorite winter yard vignettes, after most of the snow from the most recent storm had melted. I love the green man because he looks exactly like my husband!
